Small crochet octopus.

A quick and simple crochet octopus that can be adapted to suit any yarn and hook size. If there is a video tutorial it can be found on my YouTube channel at Sonia Jones Crafty Life.

Terms used are US (For UK please see chart below.)

Terms used in this pattern.

SC = Single Crochet

CH = Chain

FLO = Front loop only

BLO = Back loop only

Inc = 2SC in the same stitch

Inc4 = 4 SC in each stitch along the chain.

Dec = 2SC together (Go into the front loop of the first stitch and the second stitch and the finish of the SC creating an invisible and neat decrease.)

To stuff the toy, I normally start at the decreases and continue to add more as I go until I reach the penultimate row. Stuff until firm and then do the last row of decreases and finish. 

BODY

Round 1: 6 SC into a magic circle. (6)

Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12)

Round 3:  *1 SC, Inc in next stitch*repeat around. (18)

Round 4: *2 SC, Inc in next stitch*repeat around. (24)

Round 5: *3 SC, Inc in next stitch* repeat around. (30)

Round 6: *4 SC, Inc in next stitch* repeat around. (36)

Round 7: *5 SC, Inc in next stitch* repeat around. (42)

Round 8-10: SC in each stitch around. (42)

Round 11: *5 SC, Dec in next stitch* repeat around. (36)

Round 12: SC in each stitch around. (36)

Round 13: *4 SC, Dec in next stitch* repeat around. (30).

Round 14: SC in each stitch around. (30)

Round 15: *3 SC, Dec in next stitch* repeat around. (24).

Round 16: SC in each stitch around. (24)

Round 17: *2 SC, Dec in next stitch* repeat around. (18).

Round 18: SC in each stitch around. (18)

Round 19: *2 SC, Inc in next stitch* repeat around. (24)

Round 20: SC in each stitch around. (24)

Round 21: *3 SC FLO, CH 40, Working back along the chain Inc4.* repeat around. (18 SC + tentacles.)

Round 22: * Working in the BLO left from round 21 1 SC, Dec in next stitch* repeat around. (12).

Round 26: Dec in each stitch around (6).

Finish off and cut yarn.
