Make the strips X6.

Set the frame to the smallest setting or as close to 1 inch as possible.

Use the stitch markers to mark off a set amount as you go to save you counting. I mark every 50 but you mark what you feel better doing.

Make a slip knot and put your hook through it.

Lay the yarn under your frame and pull the crochet hook over and around the frame so it rests in the centre of the rods.

Yarn over and pull the yarn through the slip knot. The first loop is created.

* Twist your hook around through the middle of the frame to the underside.

Turn your frame over creating a new loop set up on the next rod.

Take your hook under the loop created previously and come up through the middle of it.

Yarn over and pull back through the loop.

Yarn over and pull through the two loops on your hook.

Repeat from * until you have 200 loops on each side.

Fasten off

Edge the strips.

Join yarn to the loop at one end with a US SC/ UK DC

SC/DC in each loop along the strip. ( Go in from the spine to prevent twisting. See video)

After 200 lopps CH 10.*

SC/DC into the other sides first loop.

Repeat from *

Slip stitch into the first SC/DC to join the round.

Fasten off.

Join the strips.

Join yarn into the SC/DC of the first loop on a side, CH 4.

Join with an SC/DC into the first loop of the next strip, CH 4.

*Skip 2 stitches on the first strip and join with an SC/DC into the 3rd stitch, CH 4.

Skip 2 stitches on the second strip and join with an SC/DC into the 3rd stitch, CH 4.*

Repeat from * until the strips are joined all the way to the last loop on one side on both pieces.

Fasten off.

Join the remaining strips to the new larger strips until all 6 are joined.

Edging the shawl

Join yarn into one of the CH 10 spaces at the end of the shawl.

*Create 3 shells in the CH 10 space, 1 shell in the Join space*. Repeat fromUntil you reach the corner.

*Create a shell in the first SC/DC of the side, Skip 1 stitch.* Repeat along the edge.

Repeat the previous steps across and down the other side.

Join with a slip stitch to the first SC/DC.

Fasten off.

Block out your shawl in a way suitable for your yarn and you are done.
